Questions and answers

Short answers about the GetDomainLists release: what the two files contain, how to try them, their limits and how you may use them.

What is GetDomainLists?

GetDomainLists sells a fixed historical release of domain names as two plain-text files: 232,997,860 registrable domains and 790,226,652 subdomains (updated 28 September 2026). Each file is gzip-compressed, with one name per line and no header. The two files do not overlap.

What does it cost?

USD 9 once for both files, with 30 days to download after payment. There is no subscription, and later releases are not included.

Can I see the data before buying?

Yes. Free samples of 1,000 names from each file are plain text and need no sign-up: domains sample and subdomains sample. Each TLD page also has a free sample of 1,000 registrable domains under that TLD (.com, .io, .ai, .dev, .app, .co, .xyz, .me, .cloud, .tech).

Which top-level domains are included?

The release covers 1,304 top-level domains. .com is the largest, with 44.1% of registrable domains. See all TLDs by number of domains, with a CSV, or the pages for popular TLDs.

Can I get only one TLD?

The release is sold as two complete files that cover every TLD in it, not as per-TLD lists. Filter the files after downloading, for example:

zgrep -E '\.com$' getdomainlists-2026-09-28-domains.txt.gz > com-domains.txt

Are these names active, or newly registered?

No. This is a historical collection of observed names, collected up to the release date. Current registration, DNS resolution and hosted content are not verified, and coverage is incomplete and uneven across TLDs.

What information comes with each name?

Names only. There is no owner, contact, hosting, DNS record or registration-date data.

What can I use the files for?

Your own personal or business research, analysis, matching, enrichment and internal tools: for example checking which names from your own list appear, measuring TLD and subdomain naming patterns, or preparing inputs for security testing you are authorized to do. You may publish derived aggregate statistics that do not reproduce substantial parts of the lists. Redistribution or resale of substantially complete copies is not included; see how you may use the files.

How large are the files, and how do I open them?

The compressed files are 7.75 GB (subdomains) and 1,006 MB (domains). They hold too many rows for an ordinary spreadsheet, so use a streaming script or a database import. Checksums are shown with your downloads. See file format help and the guide to matching your own list against a large gzip file.

How do downloads work after payment?

Open My downloads and verify the email used for the purchase. For 30 days after payment you can download either or both files, and resume interrupted transfers; files you have already downloaded do not expire. See delivery, refunds and support.

Try the format first with the free 1,000-name samples. Both full files are $9 once, with 30 days to download.
